Nikolaos Georgios Melios

Studied economics at the Department of Economics of Law School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens between 1980 and 1985, at which university he currently is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Political Science and Public Administration.

Following his bachelor in economics he attended the graduate study program «Open and Distance Learning» at the Hellenic Open University (2000-2001) as well as the graduate distance learning programs of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on «Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility» (2007), «Public relations and Administration» (2008-2009) and «Sustainable development and environment» (2011).

He recently graduated the Master of Arts in «Communication and journalism» at the Open University of Cyprus (2013-2016) direction courses Communication.

His work experience in the private sector includes technical and insurance between 1981 and 1984. Since 1984 he is an employee of the National Bank of Greece Group (NBG). His current position is Deputy Director of Corporate Social Responsibility Division of NBG Group.

Since 2015, he is the treasurer at the chair of the administration board of the Greek Network of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR HELLAS) as well as a member of Corporate Social Responsibility Committee of the American-Greek Chamber of Commerce.

Over the past years he participated in different projects on economic, local and business history as well as in various archiving processes which lead to various internationally recognised publications i.e. Prontzas E. – Kimourtzis P. – Melios N., Public Revenue (1830 -1939), National Bank of Greece – C.P.E.R. (320p+ CD-Rom in Greek and English). Additional work has been presented in the above mentioned fields in various international conferences such as the Milan International Economic History Congress in 1994, the International Conference of Economic and Social History in Netherlands 1993 and the International Conference of Business History in Washington 1995.

Lastly, in 1999-2003 he was a deputy member Supervisory Council of the General State Archives.

He lectured on CSR related subjects as a guest speaker in different universities of Greece including National School of Public Administration, Athens University of Economics and Business, Panteion University, National Research Institute and the Technical University of West Macedonia etc.
