Lina P. Valsamidou is a PHD candidate in Communication and New Journalism at the Open University of Cyprus, holds an M. A. in Communication and Journalism of the same University, an M. Sc. in Cultural Studies and New Technologies from the University of Western Macedonia and an M. Sc. in Gender and New Educational and Labour Environments in the Information Society from the University of the Aegean. She has worked for many years as a journalist and a television producer in TV Macedonia and in ET3, as a teacher in the public education, while her journalistic articles have been published in newspapers and magazines of Salonica.

She has worked as a researcher in research programs of the Department of Journalism and Mass Media, of the Pedagogic Department of Pre-School Education at the Aristotle University in Salonica and the University of Western Macedonia. Her academic articles have been published in Greek and foreign journals, collective volumes and proceedings of conferences. Her research interests include Media Education, gender & disability representations in the Media and New Technologies in Education.
